It has been a while since I blogged about Maui so I think it's time to take a little mental vacation with me over to our favorite place on earth. Last time I blogged about our vacation, it was in my Flying To Maui post. This time, I think I will continue on and introduce you to our amazing resort: Aston Kaanapali Shores Resort.
First let's remember the rainbow and sun-kissed countryside that welcomed us as we drove to our condo! Isn't that just stunning?
One of the things that makes this view so spectacular from the car is that if you turn your head the other way, you will be looking out at a vast teal-blue ocean with little lush mountain islands popping up in the distance. Something like this.
When booking your stay in Maui, it can be a little overwhelming. There are many great options to choose from. For us, we are creatures of habit. We knew that we had an amazing time the last time we were on Maui so we checked into our old favorite: Aston Kaanapali Shores Resort. We liked the familiarity of staying in a place we knew. We also really liked the prices! I just checked now and the prices are starting at $219 a night. That is so reasonable! We had a condo with a full kitchen so we paid about $290. For us, having a kitchen in our condo saved us a ton of money on eating out. Once we heard there was a Costco nearby, we were sold. Plus, we knew the kids would be mind-blown with all the ocean-side pools and beautiful views.
When we first arrived, even though we were a bit delusional from the long flight, we decided to take a quick stroll to show the boys around a little bit. They were pretty pumped about the glowing pool and dancing water fountains. Derrick actually looks the most excited in this picture!
Waking up on that first morning was pretty exciting! The views are just breathtaking.
It's hard not to have happy smiles and constant hugs from your kids in this place.
The pools are just as spectacular during the daylight hours.
This is one of my favorite photos! This is where I go when I need to find my happy place in the middle of winter in North Dakota!
The ocean and pools aren't the only stars here in Maui. The flowers and plants do some heavy lifting in terms of making this a beautiful place.
On our first morning, we put the GoPro in it's underwater case and tried it out for the first time. You kind of hold your breath that first time, hoping that the case really is waterproof. Haha! While we are just getting to know this new little gadget, I pretty much fell in love with it right away! We bought ours at Scheels and we love it! Check these out!
The beachfront of Kaanapali Shores is pretty amazing too! One day, we even saw a real live proposal take place! And you know that I had to try to stealthily take a photo or two of that! This probably calls for a more dedicated post to the beachfront memories in the future.
By the end of our first day, we knew we had picked the right resort. What a blast! We were completely wiped out in the very best of ways.
Goodnight from Maui. More to come soon.
